Teasing and harassments on women are still being continued in the society. No security prevails in the society for women against the acts of anti social elements. Today we are proudly says that society has been transformed to high culture one with education and skills imparting youth without any gender disparity. Even though society has shown all round development, there is no change in harassment faced by women in this patriarchal society. Irrespective of age women have been facing problems in their daily life. The indifference attitude of law enforcement authorities is also one among the cause for the constant rise of crimes against women. Some years back ‘Nirbhaya’ incident in the National Capital rocked the country. Really this incident exposed the faults in the law enforcement system. Even younger girls also subjected to sexual harassments became common in our society. At the same time the behaviour of some police personnel also creating flutter among the people. In the name of inquiry an incident occurred in the Shadnagar police station recently had left the society to its astonishment. The news regarding to another incident that occurred in Jangon police Station, where attack took place on a woman lawyer is also cause of concern. When a woman layer has not given proper respect, what is the position of a common woman? No other woman dares enough to enter into the threshold of a police station for justice. Harassment on girl students became very common. Even middle age and elderly women also unable to travel in single in any public transport systems. For these happenings we can’t put blame totally on the government. Parents should take care at every stage of their children. Their primary responsibility is to make their children understand and follow the ethical values. Even in schools, teachers not confining to lessons shall also concentrate on teach the value of polite behaviour towards others. At School level make the students to understand the prevailing stringent laws against the teasing and harassment of girls. This creates some fear among the boys and won’t indulge in such inhuman acts. Parents should explain their children how the society moving forward and acquaint them with behaviour skills those help them to become responsible and dignified citizens.
Once Mahatma Gandhi said, ‘when women freely moves on the roads without fear even in night times that is the real freedom we attain’. When compare to human beings, wild animals in the forests are better in position. All the animals’ move freely without any fear but in human society, women are not free enough to go outside in single which shows the evilness prevailing in this society. This is like a bonded life imposed on women. Society still looking at women as an object of lust is the main cause for this evil. This is compelling the women to move on the roads keeping down their head with fear of male harassments.
Rulers have their responsibility to control this evil with the help of law enforcement authorities. If it imposes some restrictions and control the evil elements then automatically this eve teasing will come down. It is not only unfortunate for the women when ever go outside every time with fear but also not well on the part of society. Even KCR who assured to take stern action against those people, who indulge in eve teasing activities, finally had not shown any interest in this direction. Since the 2014 nirbhaya issue occurred in Delhi to recent disha incident in Telangana the atrocities on women have not stopped and still continuing. Now these incidents have been spread to schools. Recently one School bus driver indulged in such misbehaviour against a girl student created chaos in the state. Media also focussed on this issue for some time and kept quite. Even Women Associations also came forward demanding stern action against this driver also forget about this in later period. The government also had forgotten this issue. There appear no changes in the attitude of people even the government warned to impose POSCO act against those indulge in sexual harassments against women. In later one unfortunate incident occurred in Little Flower School, Uppal. Here negligence lies equally on school management and parents.
At present it became a trend that parents has been inquiring about schools those imposing high fees and make their children to join in them. In this process they are totally neglecting on how the school attitude on children. How the teachers are? Are they competent enough not only teaching lessons but also ethical values to the children? What is the attitude of management towards its responsibility towards children? Unfortunately parents are not concentrating on such issues. High fee collecting school means they felt it maintains education standards. This is not enough to consider a school as good one. Lot of things have to be observed in close and after getting satisfaction only parents have to join their children. Parents thinking also confined to ranks! If felt that children are not getting good ranks, parents never hesitate to join them in tuitions. Really this is unfortunate thing. Parents do not bother, how is the behaviour of their child? With whom they continue their friendship? After coming from school, is the child spent his/her time totally in looking at cell phone? What they are doing behind the doors in the name of study? Parents are not concentrating on these things which are most important and have impact on the behaviour of a child. Now another bad news exposed about the spread of drugs using in the schools. This is creating fear among parents. Government shall take stern actions against such schools and colleges. If required it may cancel the recognition of such educational institutions. In order to avoid such illegal things, school managements should conduct counselling for parents. The Government should issue orders regarding this. At the same time school managements should take every step to prevent such anti social activities enters into the school premises. Even Women commission may also indulge if necessity arises for the sake of the better future of children. Parents, teachers, school managements and women commission like organisations must concentrate to give best and responsible future generation.
