Real estate business in Telangana State Capital Hyderabad has now reached the stage of occupying the burial grounds. Till now number of ‘nalas’ in the twin cities had gone under the encroachments of real estate business. Because of these illegal occupations number of tanks those once present in the city now disappeared. Now this ‘ghost’ of real estate business began spreading its tentacles into burial grounds! Really speaking, this business now has crossed all its ethical limits, in the clouds of greediness. Real business people became like omnivorous and not hesitating to grab any land they feel that is suitable for their business. Their impact now transformed all ponds, ‘sikam’ lands of ponds along with assigned lands into concrete jungles. This has become story of past because all such lands already gone under their encroachments. Now their eye turned towards burial grounds! Once upon a time burial grounds were present in the outskirts of town or city and people used to felt fear to pass through these lands. Later the realtors used to grab one or two such lands taking care that, it is not known to the people. After making the land clear in such a way that can’t be identified that was burial ground, finally used to sold out flats after constructing apartments in such sits. The innocent people, who don’t know this back ground, fell in the trap of realtors and move forward to purchase such flats with their hard earned money. After completion of all transactions, if they came to know the fact, nothing will be done against such real business people. Once upon a time such occupations of burial grounds occurred on rare occasions but now became usual practice.
What happened?
In Sheikpet there lies 30acres of government land and a burial ground is present just beside this land. Sheikpet total population is 2lakh and for this entire population this is only the burial ground to carry out final rights to those of near and dear on the occasion of their death. Since decades this land has been used by the people as burial ground and now hundreds of graves are present. Unfortunately this land lies in the focus of land grabbers. Already most of this land has gone under occupation of illegal occupants who got the support of government officials. Bribes are the main reason for this land grabbing. Taking money as bribe concerned officials gave authentic letters to land encroachers. The people who used to visit this burial ground to pay tributes to their ancestors now fell in great puzzle after knowing some of this land has gone under encroachments. Those who occupied the land dug out the graves and completed their constructions. This is causing for the disappearance of number of graves and the people who visit, sometimes unable to find out the graves of their relatives who died in previous years. Still these land encroachments are being continued. Looking at these illegal activities local people informed ‘Netidhatri’ about these land grabbing activities. Now some area of such land occupied by some people, arranged metal sheets around it. They won’t stop here. Now they are making preparations to dig out the graves. Really speaking burial ground is also considered as place of purity. Even people feel fear to move around that particular area. Real business has no discrimination on the type of land! Temple lands, ponds, ‘sikham’ lands of pods, ‘nalas’ and now burial grounds any such land can easily encroached by them and begins their business activities. Here is one fact for everybody’s knowledge. The state government sanctioned some amount for the development of ‘Mahaprasthanam’ of Jubilee hills. At that time the government also allocated funds for the development of 5acrs 20kuntas burial ground land belong to Sheikpet. The realtors are not allowing the officials to take up development activities here because some area of land is under their occupation. If officials come and start their works, their illegal occupations will become exposed. With this fear those land grabbers trying their best to prevent development activities here. Especially under survey number 327 some land gone under encroachments. One such realtor who occupied that land now has been trying to prevent the development works with the support of Municipal officials. Now he completed his fencing around that occupied land and preparing to dig out the graves present in that area.
Official had done nothing
In general officials will respond when information received. Some officials even though they have orders from higher officials they used to help and work in favour of private persons. For such activities Sheikpet burial ground is best example. When Revanth Reddy was in opposition he knows well about the happenings in burial grounds of Sheikpet. Then he visited the site and assured to protect the land from occupations. He also resisted the attitude of political leaders who were being committed mistakes on this land. He also announced that this land belong to Government. As per his decision immediately after coming to power Revanth Reddy issued orders not to give any permission for constructions in this land. Not caring the orders of CMO, the officials at below level gave permissions to land grabbers. Immediately after receiving permissions such people has began their constructions. Then ‘Netidhatri’ began to write stories on the happenings in the site. Responding to these stories, officials visited the site and removed some metal sheets used as fencing and released their photos to media. When ‘Netidhatri’ went to the site, it noticed the half doing of officials. If officials want to stop the illegal constructions, they have to remove all fencing; instead they demolished some metal sheets and simply released those photo graphs. Already officials received the amount whatever they want from the land encroacher. Then we can’t expect action more than this from the officials against such land encroacher.
Not only burial ground but also temple land
One side of the government land, present burial ground and a bund on the other side. On this bund present a goddess temple. The land before goddess temple is being utilized for spiritual purpose since three hundred years. Realtors’ eye also focused on this land. With the support of officials real business people occupied land. The realtor who involved in this grabbing activity felt fear against facing angry from the people, announced to leave 1700 yards for park purpose. Whose land is being given by whom? This land belongs to temple. Since three hundred yeas goddess is being worshiped by the local people. It astonishes that, temple land grabbed and again some part of it being given for public park purpose. Now ‘Bonalu’ festival time is coming near. Lakhs of people used to worship the goddess. Now the realtors gradually encroaching total land of temple and trying to prevent the people to worship freely their goddess. They have made constructions on such encroached lands so that land area get reduced and people can’t visit the temple freely as in previous years because of congested land. The primary duty of officials to prevent such encroachments but unfortunately they are in the service of encroachers. Now officials are not showing any fear because already they have earned enormous wealth which is sufficient enough for three generations. Even if caught, they have confidence enough to come out and rejoin their duties. These bribes are making them to enjoy grandeur life. They have well support from political leaders. So, Present government shall resort to take stern action against such corrupt officials as well as land encroachers to prevent such illegal activities.
