Hyderabad, Netidhatri:
It is not only strange but also bizarre that KCR, after ruling for ten years, is saying that justice has not been done to Palamuru. It is disgusting to see KCR trying to deceive people with his strange words. It would have been dignified if KCR had admitted that he too could not do justice to Palamuru. But what are the new things KCR is talking about, bringing up old accounts of injustice done in the undivided state? What is the irrigated area he increased? What is the injustice done to Palamuru? If he sheds crocodile tears now, wondering what will happen, people are not ready to believe him. The same injustice that happened to Palamuru in the undivided state also happened during KCR’s tenure. Instead of repenting for that, it is not right to throw stones at the Congress and try to play politics. Palamuru is a district of migration. It was completely neglected in the undivided state. Moreover, wasn’t it KCR who ruined South Telangana? In fact, if KCR wanted to do any work first, he should have started with Palamuru. But he didn’t do that. He abandoned Palamuru. He sidelined the pending projects. During the ten-year period, he should have given first priority to the pending projects of Palamuru and South Telangana. But what did he do? Not a single penny was spent on Palamuru. KCR’s heart did not melt even after seeing the barren rocks. When he was in power for ten years, he didn’t think about providing water to Palamuru. Has he remembered it now? To be honest, the first step regarding water should have been taken from Palamuru. But it wasn’t. Once upon a time, there were three lakh tanks in Telangana. Over time, they dwindled to approximately 46,000. Among them, there are 12,000 interconnected tanks across Telangana. They don’t require any canals. The facility for water to flow from one tank to another has existed for a long time. As part of Mission Kakatiya, which was implemented across Telangana, the tanks in Palamuru were renovated. But this wasn’t done specifically for Palamuru, ahead of all other regions. If six thousand crore rupees had been spent on all the pending projects on the Krishna River, it would have been sufficient. Approximately six lakh acres in the undivided Palamuru district would have been irrigated. The tanks would also have been filled with that water. Additional ayacut (irrigated area) would have been created. But that work was not done. Despite the pleas of the people of Palamuru district, not even six hundred crores were given. Finally, before the elections, they said they would complete the pending projects. If those projects had been completed, Palamuru would have flourished. But that work was not done. They started Kaleshwaram and laid the foundation for a commission-driven project. Before that, under the name of Mission Kakatiya, approximately 2 lakh crores were spent on the repair of the 46,000 tanks in Telangana. But no new tanks were dug. Nor were the old tanks restored to their former glory. They simply took a little soil and washed their hands of the matter. They wasted two lakh crores of rupees for commissions. The main reason why more than half of the tanks in Telangana are full is the Devadula project. The Congress party constructed that Devadula project. But without mentioning this fact, they boasted about filling the tanks. Would half of the tanks in Telangana have been filled without the Devadula project? Wherever they went, they propagated that it was Kaleshwaram water. But they didn’t mention that it was Devadula water. They spread lies because they knew that if they mentioned Devadula water, all the credit would go to the Congress party. They lifted Kaleshwaram water to Yellampalli. As soon as it rained, they released that water back to Kaleshwaram. The water that came from there was supplied through Devadula. They deceived and misled the people. The Congress party made a Herculean effort to transport Godavari river water from Tupakulagudem to Tapasupalli in Siddipet district, covering hundreds of kilometers, through the Devadula project. The Congress party is the party that laid pipes underground for hundreds of kilometers, transporting water without causing any inconvenience to the farmers. In that process, the Congress party ensured that all the old tanks, starting from Tupakulagudem, received water. The Congress party constructed dozens of reservoirs from the Devadula project to Tapasupalli. The credit for connecting the Devadula waters to the tanks, filling the reservoirs, and finally bringing Godavari water to Tapasupalli belongs to the Congress party. During the construction of Devadula, KCR repeatedly spread lies, claiming that the underground pipes were bursting like firecrackers if there was a leak. Small problems do arise during the construction of any project. But later, during KCR’s ten-year tenure, Devadula water flowed through the pipes without a single pipe bursting anywhere. In the Kaleshwaram project constructed by KCR, the Medigadda barrage, which is like its heart, collapsed. Later, sinkholes appeared in Sundilla. Ultimately, it has been rendered useless since its construction. On the other hand, Devadula has been completed for so long, yet it hasn’t even required any repairs. This is proof of the Congress government’s administration and the corruption perpetrated by KCR. Even now, it is the Devadula waters that are the only source, as no water has come from Kaleshwaram. No water has flowed to Telangana from it. How is KCR any less guilty than those who committed injustice in the undivided state? While KCR is shedding crocodile tears over Krishna river waters, didn’t the AP government create a massive breach at Pothireddypadu during his time, increasing the water diversion from 45 cusecs to 80 cusecs? Didn’t KCR have anything to say then? When he went to Tirupati and had a meal at the house of a certain female leader at the time, and then spoke about giving water to Rayalaseema, didn’t Palamuru come to his mind? While Palamuru was struggling without a single drop of water, wasn’t it KCR who said he would give water to AP? KCR, who remembers the issue of RTS sluice gates from the time of the undivided state, didn’t he see when the breach at Pothireddypadu was being widened? Did he ever make any attempt to stop the water from going to Pothireddypadu? Moreover, wasn’t it KCR who proposed linking Godavari water to the Krishna river and giving water to AP? Is it enough for KCR to just raise a hue and cry now? In the last elections, the Congress party told the farmers and the people about these issues, which is why KCR was defeated. The people realized that KCR was conspiring to do injustice to Telangana under the guise of water and defeated him. The Telangana state government has never even considered giving water to AP. But the people of Telangana did not believe the false propaganda that KCR tried to spread. His sin of ten years will not be washed away even in many lifetimes… Why didn’t he start and complete the Palamuru and Rangareddy projects when he started Kaleshwaram? Even if a quarter of the amount spent on Mission Kakatiya had been spent, Palamuru and Rangareddy would have been completed. It’s not enough to just present accounts claiming to have spent twenty-seven thousand crores; they haven’t dug canals or provided water. They haven’t shown the sincerity to complete the Palamuru project. If they had built the project at Tummidi Hatti instead of Kaleshwaram, water could have been supplied to the entire Telangana region through gravity. All this roundabout expenditure wouldn’t have been necessary. The Telangana treasury wouldn’t have been burdened with this debt. Under the pretext of water availability, they poured all of Telangana’s public funds into Kaleshwaram and filled their pockets with commissions. They deceived the people by claiming rainwater and floodwater as Kaleshwaram water. They misled the public and ruled for ten years. If Tummidi Hatti had been built, half the cost would have been saved. Telangana wouldn’t have been burdened with debt. The situation of paying sixteen thousand crores in interest every year wouldn’t have arisen. Telangana’s state finances would have been in a better condition. It would have been possible to implement even more public welfare programs.
