Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy instructed the Tahasildars not to allow anybody to encroach even single inch of government land. In the back ground of ‘HYDRA’ action against encroachments Minister Ponguleti issued such instructions. He also stressed that he will take steps to clean the entire revenue department in the way to benefit the common people. At the same time he made it compulsory to obtain permission from District Collectors before filing a case on any Tahasildar. This will facilitate the Tahasildars to work freely without showing any discrimination. There are number of allegations coming on Dharani portal which causing problems to farmers. Ponguleti assured to solve such problems those causing agony to farmer community. He also assured Tahasiladars to solve their problems and directed them to take stern action against land grabbers. He made an announcement regarding to new Revenue Act that will cause benfit to people and farmers. All these actions of him remain as proof for his determination to solve the existing problems.
Misappropriations in Dharani
Ponguleti created sensation by announcing that some irregularities took place in Dharani. At present the activities of Dharani Portal are handed over to National Informatics Centre (NIC). Till now this website is monitored by one foreign company. The files regarding to the irregularities are found, he said. Before introducing Dharani there were 32 columns present in the book to prove the ownership on the land. BRS Government reduced those columns to single one. This created lot of problems and confusion among farmers. Thousands of farmers faced problems related to their lakhs of acres. Considering these problems present government want to bring 13-14 columns in its new policy. This will solve the problem of farmers regarding to their ownership issue. All the 35 modules in Dharani reduced to one module under single platform. As per the information given by Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, the Government will introduce a new bill in the Assembly in the name of ‘Records of Rights Act-2024’. During discussion the valuble suggestions made by the opposition members will also incorporated in this act, Srinivasa Reddy said. The main aim behind bringing this act is to make it favourable to land owners. At the same time the government wants to reintroduce Village revenue officers system.
Back ground for the new Act
Land grabbing in Telangana reached to peak stage. In this back ground the government wants to take stern action on such illegal occupations. The prevailing acts are not sufficient enough to deal with such illegal activities so there required an inflexible act to put stop for such unscrupulous people. In 1982 there prevailed an act in the name of ‘Land Grabbing (prohibition) Act’. If government land subjected to illegal occupation, then the persons caused for such activity will be punished with imprisonment of minimum six months to five years along with Rs.5000 penalty. After BRS coming to power it abrogated this act which facilitated the land grabbers to act on their own will. BRS government argued that even this act has a provision to finalise the case within a stipulated period, those mischievous persons easily escaping the cases finding loop holes in the act. The Land grabbing act-1905 is enough to deal such cases, BRS Government argued. At present the situation is totally deteriorated and illegal occupation became a habit of unscrupulous people. In this back ground there is growing demand to reintroduce the act to prevent such irregularities. So it is necessary for Revanth Government to invoke such act. These types of acts now are prevailing in Gujarat, Odisha, Karnataka and Assom. Among these four states the act that is in force in Gujarat is very strong. If the illegal occupation proved 10 years imprisonment will be imposed on such culprit.
Procurement of rice
Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy is taking all steps to procure paddy and cotton without any obstructions. He also gave instructions to officers to take steps to provide required facilities to the farmers at procurement centres. He also time to time is monitoring the situation in these centres. At the same time he is taking every step to pay the procurement prices to farmers without any delay. He assured to purchase entire paddy produced by the farmers. He also made it clear to purchase the dried paddy with paying bonus of Rs.500 per quintal. The Government is doing everything for the sake farmers. So he requested the farmers to sell their farm products in procurement centres only. The Government never go on back foot in allocation of ‘Indiramma houses’ to every eligible beneficiary. Time to time he has been reviewing the double bed rooms houses position in every district.
Arrest politics
Ponguleti created sensation by announcing that those responsible for irregularities in Dharani portal and Kaleswaram project and for phone tapping will be arrested soon. This announcement created political vibrations in the state. In these issues No.1 to No.8 leaders of BRS will have to face the consequences he said. All the proofs have been collected and only action is remain, he added. He alleged that BRS leaders illegally occupied the catchment area of Musi River in name of binamis. He said that these arrests will takes place before Divali, which till now have not taken place. If it becomes true this will create large repercussions in Telangana. On this occasion we must recollect some incidents. KCR didn’t respond to the notices issued by Electricity commission. Irrigation Commission still not issued notices for inquiry. Regarding to phone tapping case there continues the play of hide and seek between the government and ex. DGP Prabhakar Rao. He obtained green card in US, so it became difficult to bring him back to India. In such prevailing obstacles how Pungulati announced about the arrests is still remain a puzzle. This may be to create some chaos and fear among the culprits. At the same time such type of news creates sensation along with publicity. For political leaders publicity is essential along with their hard work. It seems Ponguleti digested these facts very well. Two commissions appointed on irregularities of BRS government showed their fingers towards KCR. But till now his arrest has not taken place. Now KTR is trying hard to use this situation for his political mileage. Arresting KCR, KTR and Harish Rao like leaders is nothing but like ‘Bhasmasura hastam’. It will boomerang that create negative impact on the government. The Congress political stalwarts know well this fact. So Ponguleti might have played a political trick. This will causes two benefits. One is getting publicity and another one is to fell in defence his opponents. Already Ponguleti attained good name as hard working minister. Now these political tricks are meant to gain upper hand against his opponents. Like this Ponguleti is exhibiting his political maturity.
