Now the farmers in Telangana celebrating loan waiver which relieved them from the unbearable burden of loan. In 2014 when BRS came in to power assured farmers on waiving the loans up to Rs. 1lakh. But it failed to keep its promise and continue to conceal the farmers in its first tenure in power. During 2018 election with fear of antagonism from the farmers, BRS announced ‘Raitubandhu’. At the same time it again gave its assurance to waive off farmers’ loans up to Rs. 1lakh. Poor farmers relied on BRS and voted it to power. This time also KCR continued his playing of ‘Gimmicks’. This five years tenure also nearer to end but there was no movement in KCR. When he sniff the pressure from all sides about loan waiver he finally announced to pay them in four instalments in which he didn’t abide his promise. Then people came to final conclusion to bring down the BRS Government and voted against it by bringing Congress into power. Immediately after coming to power Reventh Reddy is in strong intention to waive off the loans of farmers as to keep his promise given during election campaign. Unfortunately circumstances were not in favour to implement. Immediately he compelled to announce ‘Raitu Bharosa’. Out of six assurances given, free bus travel for women has been implemented so far. He also faced the pressure of implementing the remaining assurances given. In such circumstances Revanth Reddy announced that loan waiver will be implemented within 90 days. At that time Parliament elections announced. Election code remains hurdle for implementing the loan waiver scheme. In this period BRS wanted to take it as advantage and began its negative campaign on loan waiver. It went on vigorous campaign that it is highly impossible for Congress to implement this scheme. Even KCR also used harsh words against Congress regarding the non implementation of this assurance. Then Revanth Reddy gave strong appeal to people that he will keep his promise. Now the people relied on the words of Revanth Reddy and voted in favour of Congress in Parliament elections. Here one point must be keep in mind. During his past tenure period KCR failed to implement his promises given. This made the people to lost confidence on the words of KCR. This was the main reason for people to thrown out BRS in dust bin. Then Revanth Reddy gave assurance to people to implement this loan waiver scheme on 15th, August, which he kept his promise made to grow much more confidence among people on his government.
Obstructions are common
When a government began to implement a big programme like loan waiver it is quite natural for it to face some obstructions. That same problem now arouse for Revanth Reddy government. Unfortunately this confusion is not caused by the present Government but with ‘Dharani’ that brought to implement by the BRS during its tenure. There were lot of allegations on ‘Dharani’ in which the details of land owners are not entered properly. This was the main cause for prevailing confusion on transfer of funds into the accounts of farmers. So it is not correct to put the blame of this present government. Whatever the blame game played by BRS boomerang and made it to stand in cross roads to face the criticisms from all sides. At present the government is able to remit the loan amount equivalent to three instalments in single attempt. BRS knows well all this problem and intentionally wanted to create confusion among the farmers. During its tenure BRS government promised to waive off up to Rs.1lakh loans but failed to implement. Now this present Government successfully kept its promise by waiving off loans in three stages. At first stage loans up to Rs.1lakh credited in the farmers’ loan accounts. With this the loans taken up to one lakh waived off within one instalment. All such farmers get benefited. In the second stage Rs.1.5lakh loans cleared. With this, farmers those have taken loans in between Rs.1lakh and Rs.1.5lakh gets relieved from their loan burden. In the third stage government waived off Rs.2lakh loans. In this process the farmers who have loans in between Rs.1.5lakh and Rs.2lakh came out of their loan burden. Like that present Government systematically fulfilled its given promise. Here one thing we must observe that, all the loans are cleared in single instalment. The Government didn’t pay them in two or three instalments. Like this Government successfully waived off Rs.31000 crore worth loans at a time. Such implementation in large scale never happened till now in the world. This is the achievement of Revanth Reddy Government. BRS wanted to play its trick politics here but all such attempts left in vain. In such large scale implementation there will be every possibility of mistakes to occur. The Government now made announcement that if any farmers left without getting this benefit, can apply immediately filling the required details. For this purpose Government gave some time to the farmers. Another important thing is that, Government latest announce made that it will clear above Rs.2lakh loans taken by farmers. This remains the greatest example that the government dedication towards the welfare of the farmers.
Countrywide loan waiver in 2004
In 2004 then UPA government led by Congress implemented Rs.1lakh loan waiver throughout the country. At a time this scheme successfully implemented without any hesitation. This was also remains an achievement of Congress during its rule. Since NDA government came into power in 2014, BJP never bothered about the welfare of the farmers. It didn’t implement any welfare scheme for the farmers. In Telangana BRS government had taken up the lift irrigation schemes like ‘Kaleswaram’ and kept aside the pending projects. With its policies spent crores of rupees in lavish manner. KCR didn’t keep his promise of creating one lakh jobs to unemployed youth. ‘Every house hold will get one job’ this remains the unfulfilled promise of KCR during Telangana Movement. Double bed room apartment promise also not reached its goal. Up to Rs.1lakh loan waiver also left unfulfilled. Now BRS continued its propaganda that it is highly impossible for this government to implement this loan waiver scheme. At one stage Harish Rao challenged the government on this issue. Now after implementing this scheme, Revanth Government is demanding Harish resignation. Without any chance to escape Harish now has searching for ways to come out of this riddle. One thing is clear. BRS has no right to criticise the Congress government on loan waiver implantation.
